IN MEMORIAM: Patricia C. Le Meur
Tricia, an invaluable part of our family for over 20 years, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
Tricia graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. Tricia then went on to obtain a master’s degree in Anatomical Sciences and Neurobiology from the University of Louisville while working as a research scientist at the Veteran’s Administration. Tricia pursued a Juris Doctor degree and graduated from University of Louisville’s Brandeis School of Law in 2001.
During law school, Tricia was a law clerk at Phillips Parker Orberson & Moore when it was founded in 1999. She joined the firm full time upon graduation. In 2013, she became a partner at the firm, where she remained until her passing.
Tricia was an experienced trial attorney who tried many cases successfully to a jury verdict. She was also one of the finest appellate attorneys in Kentucky, obtaining multiple favorable appellate decisions:
Petronis v. Churchill Downs Incorporated, 2007 WL 1520018 (Ky.App.2009)
Peyton v. Norton Hospitals, Inc., 381 S.W.3d 286 (Ky.2012)
White v. Norton Healthcare, Inc., 435 S.W.3d 68 (Ky.App.2014)
Encompass Indemnity Companyet al. v. Tryon, 502 S.W.3d 585 (Ky.2016)
Clines v Janocik, et al., 2016-CA-000122-MR
Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government v. Braden, et al., 519 S.W.3d 241 (Ky.App.2017)
Bryant v. Louisville Metro Housing Authority, 568 S.W.3d 839, 845 (Ky. 2019)
Tricia also contributed to cases for the ACLU and Americans with Disabilities Act actions – – causes for which she was very passionate. She also was a valued mentor to a long line of young attorneys who are forever grateful to have worked with Tricia.
We are all thankful for the opportunity to have known Tricia. She will be missed immensely.
